Basil Rathbone. (1892-1967). Shakespearean stage actor who went on to appear in more than 70 films. His most famous role was that of Sherlock Holmes in fourteen Hollywood films made between 1939 and 1946. 8x10 matte-finish publicity photo on heavy cardstock circa 1936 to 1940 signed "Best Wishes. Basil Rathbone" in blue fountain pen ink. In very good condition, with part of the signature written in the darker portion of the photo.
