This tall blue wooden Santa stands on a little snowdrift, with a snowflake-covered sack over one shoulder and a staff in his other hand.
Before the carving begins, the wood is left to dry for several years. After that, the figure is hand carved from solid natural wood and hand painted with water-based acrylics by a professional artist, who signs the base.

ABOUT THIS SANTA
The sack is the slowest part of the painting. Lacy white snowflakes cover it, and every flake has its own design. Four-dot stars repeat across the coat, fine pinstripes run down the trousers, and a single snowflake sits on the back of each mitten. The brown fur trim, boots and rim of the base are stippled with white, as if frost had settled on them. All of that pattern goes onto carved folds and a curved sack, and it adds up to days of work for the artist. His coat stops at the knee, a red fringed sash is tied at the waist, and the blue and white reads from across the room. At 11 inches he holds his own on a mantel or a sideboard, and he suits a winter or farmhouse Christmas display. A blue Santa dusted with frost, carrying a sack of snowflakes.
