AMASA DAVIS was born in 1745 and was known to have participated in the Boston Tea Party. He entered the Revolutionary War to become the quartermaster of one of the Boston Regiments. He died in 1825.
Davis paid the freight for ammunition as evidenced in this document.

Maine was part of Massachusetts until 1820 when it would become a state. The Battalion of Artillery, 2d Brigade, 12th Division was a local militia that could be called into duty.
