Boys Football Team. Vintage B&W Photograph. Social History. For Sale

This is a vintage, black & white photograph showing a group of 11 boys posed as a sports team, likely a football team from around the 1910s to 1930s.This is a likely a state primary school, a church, or a working-class village youth club where the boys played in their regular clothes. Because several of these boys are wearing long trousers, proper button-up shirts, and waistcoats (vests) under their shirts, there is also a very high probability that this is a \"Junior\" factory, colliery (mining), or railway club team. The photograph is printed on quite thin paper, it is highly likely a traditional silver gelatin developing-out print made by a local high-street photographer. Rather than selling a premium cardboard-mounted portrait, photographers often offered these cheaper, unmounted prints on thinner paper so working-class families could afford a memento. There is a crease to the top right corner. This does not detract from this otherwise amazingly clear photograph which was taken 80- 110 years old.
