Re. #3.The Union & Glen Springs Railroad was incorporated in South Carolina on March 1, 1899, to construct and operate a railroad from Pride to Glen Springs, SC, about 32 miles. As of June 30, 1918, the amount of outstanding capital stock was $400,000, all owned by the Union-Buffalo Mills
Company. From January 8, 1906, to June 30, 1907, the the railroad was operated by a receiver.The railroad extended from Pride northwesterly to Buffalo, SC, 19.356 miles. At Pride it connected with the Seaboard Air Line, with which it jointly owned and operated a combination passenger and freight station at that point. At Union the line connected with the Southern Ry. Traffic consisted
mostly of cotton and cotton products. One of the principal industries served was the Buffalo-Union Mills Company.The line was built by T. C. Duncan, who served as first president of the railroad, during the period from 1900 to July 1, 1905, when it was placed in operation. The main line was laid with relay rail varying in weight from 50 to 65 lbs. It traversed heavily rolling country in the drainage areas of the
