Up for sale is an extraordinarily rare piece of musical theater history for serious Broadway archivists and Stephen King collectors: an original paper ephemera set from the February 1988 Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) world premiere tryout of Carrie: The Musical at Stratford-upon-Avon. Surviving paper items from this brief UK engagement are vastly scarcer than the Broadway Playbills, making this set an exceptional find.
This set includes the elusive paper program cast insert listing the original world-premiere cast and credits. Most notably, it features legendary Broadway star Barbara Cook as Margaret White, who famously quit the show right after the Stratford run due to an on-stage set mishap before Betty Buckley took over for New York. Accompanying the insert is the original RSC promotional flyer and booking pamphlet featuring vintage production artwork, show schedules, and early promotional details.
Both pieces are 100% authentic vintage paper originals in excellent condition with minimal age-appropriate toning and clean edges. Both items will ship flat in acid-free archival sleeves with rigid backing boards inside a crush-resistant mailer with full insurance and tracking.
