This original protest/medical preparedness kit was left at my home on Albina Avenue in Portland during the Red House Eviction Defense standoff in December 2020.
The package has been preserved together and includes the original printed \"Hello Neighbor!\" letter, chemical-weapons/tear-gas decontamination wipes, protective masks, eye/face protection and other protest safety/medical materials. The wipes are labeled RosehipMedics.org, connecting the materials to Portland\'s street-medic and mutual-aid network active during the 2020 protests.
The Red House Eviction Defense centered around the Kinney family\'s home on North Mississippi Avenue in Portland. In December 2020, activists constructed barricades around several blocks surrounding the home after law enforcement attempted to carry out an eviction. Contemporary reporting documents the barricaded zone, armed activists, street medics, and preparations for possible police action.
The accompanying letter specifically discusses the possibility of tear gas, flashbangs, a Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD), and physical confrontation, making this an unusual example of firsthand protest-era material culture from Portland\'s 2020 protest movement.
The kit has remained together and untouched since I received it in 2020.
