The book written for women by Elizabeth Hedge Webster, poet, author, suffragist and member of "The Thought Club" founded in 1881 in Hyde Park..is part spiritual, part poetic by the great writers of their time, political references on women having active and equal parts in Government, author Webster's thoughts and relationships with many important people of the day, The Ballot for Women, Why Does Not Suffrage Come, Julia Ward Howe, How to Prevent Divorce, Lydia Marie Child and her Appeal for Africans, The Thought Club, Alice & Phoebe Cary, First Lady Lucy Hayes, School Suffrage, Nathanial Hawthorne on Women Preachers, Elizabeth C. I believe are the only books available for sale. This original signed copy surfaced in a home in Connecticut..whose ancestors lived in Hyde Park during the early to late 1800's.Book is in very good to near excellent condition.224 pages. Beautiful blue cover looks close to perfect. Spine is strong except for the first couple pages where the book was probably dropped when left open and their is some minor loosening to two or three beginning pages near the inside the spine's binding. Book is very clean and bright with no soiled, stained, missing or torn pages. E. Hedge Webster's intimate autograph reads: "Mrs. L.S. Case with love and good wishes of the author EH Webster 43 Water St. Hyde Park Jan. 2nd,1894." No date of publish. (see identical digitalized copy online) There is also a photograph on the first inner page of the author's beloved mother: Elizabeth Goodhue Hedge: Born Aug. 15, 1799. She also was involved in the women's movement. Note: (Last 2 photos are from a literary post.)
