Cox Silver Plate Cut Glass Inkwell Ornate Floral Footed w/ stand Antique 1915 For Sale

Beautiful vintage Wilcox Silver PL desk inkwell featuring a heavy substantial clear cut-glass well resting in an ornate silver-plated stand. The elaborate stand is decorated with raised flowers, scrolling leaves and shell-like flourishes, with an aged dark patina that emphasizes the intricate details. The heavy glass inkwell has deeply cut geometric facets that reflect the light beautifully, while the removable silver-plated lid is ornamented with flowers and leaves. The shallow, symmetrical recessed area on top of the lid appears to be an intentional part of the original design rather than a dent because the underside shows no corresponding damage or

imperfection. The stand is marked “COX SILVER PL” with two crossed hammers inside a circular trademark and the number 287112. Its ornate design and construction suggest an early 20th-century date, possibly circa 1910–1925, although its exact age has not been verified. It measures just under 6 inches wide and approximately 4 inches tall. The cut-glass inkwell is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks observed. The lid is detached at the hinge, but still fits perfectly atop glass.  It rests in place for display but is no longer connected to the collar. The silver-plated surfaces show age-related tarnish, patina and areas of plating wear, as photographed. It has not been polished. A handsome and highly decorative writing accessory for an antique desk, library, office or collection of vintage inkwells and writing instruments.
