1. 1949 Post-WWII Occupied Japan Wooden Geta Sandals
A spectacular pair of traditional wooden platform Geta (Okobo) sandals featuring hand-painted soaring cranes over a rust-red lacquered base, plush red velvet straps, and a woven tatami footbed. The unfinished wood undersides feature highly unique, hand-carved ink inscriptions documenting their exact history: one sandal is carved "From Clyde in Japan" and the matching sandal is dated "June 12, 1949." Features hollowed-out wooden acoustic sound chambers with original twine knots intact.
2. Large 19" x 15" Chinoiserie Metal Tole Serving/Wall Tray
A stunning mid-century black metal tole wall display tray featuring a deeply scalloped rim decorated with elegant gold painted filigree flourishes. The center highlights a highly detailed, hand-painted landscape scene depicting two Geishas traveling with parasols across a traditional footbridge with a tiered pagoda temple, weeping trees, and Mount Fuji in the background. 5. 1931 Bailey-Walker Blue Willow Divided Grill Plate (10")
Rare early Depression-Era heavy vitrified restaurant ware china produced by the Bailey-Walker China Company of Bedford, Ohio. Features three distinct sectional compartments decorated in the beloved Blue Willow transferware pattern. The reverse base features a crisp green factory backstamp with the historical numeric factory date code "4-31", verifying this exact plate was fired in April of 1931.
6. Vintage Korean Ironstone "Couple Peacock" Hand-Painted Dancer Plate (4.5")
A charming individual dish or pin tray featuring a finely hand-painted illustration of a traditional female folk dancer performing the Janggu-chum (Korean Hourglass Drum Dance). Fully backstamped on the underside with the green underglaze factory crest reading "Couple Peacock - Korea Ironstone" alongside the native Korean Hangul characters for the dance (장고춤).
7. Two Miniature Hand-Carved Cork Dioramas (San You & AAC Brands)
An intricate pair of traditional Chinese cork carving dioramas featuring paper-thin, hand-sculpted landscapes encased behind glass. The large round diorama (4.5" tall) retains its original silver "SAN YOU" brand logo and "MADE IN FUJIAN, CHINA" stickers. The small rectangular diorama retains its original gold oval "AAC" (Arts & Crafts Corporation) export sticker.
CONDITION DETAILS:
This entire lot is in very good vintage condition, displaying beautiful, authentic rustic age wear and minor surface character scuffs as pictured.
Please note two specific vintage condition characteristics:
- Cork Diorama: True to natural cork art of this age, the larger round diorama has one small carved cork palm tree branch that has naturally detached from the glue base and rests safely on the bottom interior glass floor (see close-up photos). Glass remains sealed.
- Tole Tray: Shows minor surface character scuffs, areas of expected paint wear, and tiny spots of oxidation primarily around the outer scalloped rims. Central image remains bright and beautiful.
