Original Walt Disney production animation cel featuring Princess Aurora/Briar Rose and Prince Phillip from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty (1959).
This impressive setup features both principal characters together, with Aurora in her forest/Briar Rose costume and Prince Phillip shown with his sword. Both characters are large and highly displayable within the composition.
The original hand-painted character cels are presented over a separate photographic forest background used for presentation/display purposes. The photographic background is not represented as an original production background from the film.
Professionally framed and matted in an ornate wood-tone frame measuring approximately 22.5” x 18.5” overall.
This piece came from the same collection as several other original animation cels.
In an effort to determine whether any additional studio documentation, certificates, labels or production information might be located inside the frame, I carefully cut the left, right and bottom sides of the rear backing material. The backing is firmly secured within the frame and did not lift easily, so I stopped rather than risk disturbing the cel assembly. The top edge of the backing remains uncut, and the interior artwork has not been removed or disturbed. Please see the included photographs showing the rear of the frame and its current condition. No COA but I’m really confident this is original based on the collection it came from.
The visible character cels present nicely for their age. As expected with vintage animation artwork, there is age-related surface wear, dust/speckling and other imperfections visible under close examination. The frame, matting and presentation materials also show age/display wear. Please review all photographs carefully for exact condition.
