Hello, here is a neat TWIG or branch Plant fossil next to a Diplomystus FISH Fossil in their 50 million year old Green River Formation matrix! This fossil was quarried in an extinct lake known as Fossil Lake in Lincoln County, Wyoming.
Here's More Information Long but interesting....Fifty-million years ago an ancient Lake existed in what is now southwest Wyoming! The unusual chemistry of the lake created conditions that prevented decay and scavenging, while alternating layers of limestone and organic matter accumulated. The resulting laminated limestone contains the highest concentration of articulated fish and PLANT fossils in the world!
The Fish fossil measures around 3 7/8" or 9.7cm and the overall piece or matrix is 5.75" or 14.6cm at their biggest or from opposing side to side! Please note that a Display STAND is included.
