Thisis a very good miniature specimen of scheelite that displays themineral's bright blue white fluorescence under a UV SW lamp. The specimen isa vein section of high grade tungsten ore that is pure massive scheelite. Thebottom side is flat (not sawn), allowing the specimen to stand well.
TheEmpire Mine is a past producer of gold and now is the site of a statepark.
Thespecimen is number 12-7 in the catalog of the Joseph Mitchellcollection which consisted of worldwide minerals collected from 1937to 1987.
