A 1921 art print commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation (1517-1917) and commemorating the 400th anniversary of Luther's appearance at the Imperial Assembly (Diet of Worms) where he stood by his theological works and refused to recant (1521-1921). At the Diet of Worms Luther famously said: "Here I stand, I can do no other." This framed art print has been in my family since it was created circa 1921 so I can vouch for the provenance.
The print is framed with a large wood frame and is under glass; there's a metal wire on the back for mounting the item on a wall. The frame dimensions are: 23.5 inches long and 19.5 inches wide. The print was printed in Germany and the item was framed in Germany in circa 1921. The print may be an original piece of art as there are the initials of "H.H." at the bottom left (see photo). I'm not sure if the artwork is original or if the artwork is a copy of an original.
Illustrations include: The Wartburg Castle where Luther was given refuge and translated the Bible into German; Luther nailing his 95 Theses to a church door; a Martin Luther portrait; Luther burning papal works and decrees; Luther at the Imperial Assembly (Diet of Worms); Luther and his family; and the Luther Rose.
Translations of German text on print:
"Errinerung an die Vierjahrhundert Feiern der Reformation" = "Commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the Reformation"
"Gottes Wort ist Luthers Lehr" = "God's word is Luther's teaching"
"Drum vergeht sie nimmermehr" = "And so it shall never pass away"
"Eine Feste Burg ist unser Gott" = "A mighty fortress is our God"
