Gore Vidal's Lincoln Book Original Illustration by Thomas B Allen Franklin Mint For Sale

Here is a nice original pen and ink illustration from Gore Vidal's Lincoln book for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself!

One of the former executives at the Franklin Mint recently released a number of pieces of original artwork that was used for the illustrations in Franklin Mint Library books over about 25 years. Some of this artwork was from famous author books such as this one and also from Pulitzer Prize winner author books such as "Dragon's Teeth" and "The Last of the Mohicans". We were able to acquire a number of these pieces and will be offering to you in the next few weeks. These items will be made separately in our online store from this one for your buying advantage!

This illustration is from their Great Authors series. There was also a signed first edition offering of the book.Keep in mind you are not buying the book here, but one of the original illustrations done for the book by Thomas B. Allen. We do not see a signature of the illustrator on the piece. The illustration is in very nice shape. A smudge on the white outside perimeter of the illustration along the top.

The illustration shows President Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln in preparation back at the White House to go to Ford's Theater in April 1865. The piece captures Mary Lincoln adjusting Abraham's bow tie. The illustration seems to be captured in the Lincoln bedroom. Nice rendering of one of the last historic events leading up to Lincoln's Death in the Civil War.

The illustration is 11-3/8" tall, by 14-5/8" across. The actual illustration is 7-7/8" tall, by 11-1/8" across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Don’t be shy to make an offer, we are always open to reasonable suggestions.
