Gorgeous Helton Stemmed, 1 7/8\", Indiana, Boyle Chert, Authentic Artifact: $45.00
Gorgeous Helton Stemmed, 1 7/8\", Indiana, fossiliferous Boyle chert. Boyle chert is a Kentucky chert but I have personally found examples of it in Southern Indiana, it\'s one of my favorite materials. Heltons were first described at the Koster site in Illinois, and produced by the Helton phase of the Archaic. In central and southern Indiana the French Lick phase was contemporaneous with the Helton of Illinois, and had basically the same tool assemblage. Some archaeologists now have typed them as a Matanza variant, but I don\'t see it! This is a great undamaged example of the type, in a highly desirable material, priced to sell. From a collection I\'ve had since about 1990, out of Columbus, Indiana, Bartholomew Co. Guaranteed ancient and unaltered for life. I am a 25 year plus member of CSAS, GRAS and GIRS archaeological societies and a 40 year surface hunter. Fast shipping, will combine whenever possible. Any questions or more photos please message. Thanks for looking!
