An unusual Bohemian pressed-glass vase in the historic Maidens after Bath design by František Halama, originally dating to 1945.
The vase features finely modelled female figures in relief, surrounded by eight regularly ground facets. Its sculptural decoration is enhanced by the contrast between matte and polished surfaces.
Particularly striking is the unusual interplay of red, honey-amber and pale translucent tones within the glass. These colour transitions are especially visible along the cut and polished rim and base, creating a luminous effect when the vase is held to the light.
The model is documented in the current Halama Glass collection. The exact production date of this particular vase has not been established.
Condition
Good vintage condition, with several small imperfections.
There are two small shallow chips or areas of wear along the inner rim, a short, non-through hairline at the bent arm of one figure, and a tiny chip to the drapery of another figure. The hairline may be manufacturing-related, although its origin cannot be confirmed.
These imperfections do not substantially affect the overall appearance. Please examine all photographs carefully, including the close-ups of the noted approx. 14.5 cm / 5.71 in
