PATTERN & DESIGN

Hull Pottery\'s Ebb Tide line features imaginative ocean-inspired forms with molded shells, fish, and other marine elements. This example combines a tall conch shell-shaped vase with a sculptural angel fish and dramatically spreading fins at the base. The turquoise and aqua glaze is accented by irregular white spatter decoration that gives the surface a textured, seafoam-like appearance. Soft gray-green shading emphasizes the molded fins and dimensional details. The flowing shell opening, sculptural fish form, and broad finned base create a striking Mid-Century decorative design characteristic of Hull\'s whimsical marine pottery of the 1950s.
