ID'd WW2 WWII USMC Officer Uniform Jacket Marine Military Iwo Jima For Sale

WW2 era officer’s dress tan uniform jacket initialed with “HPW” and with Philadelphia tailor tag. There are no other officers with those initials who were stationed in Pennsylvania except for Henry P Welton, and he was specifically stationed in Philly right before he commissioned as a LT in the reserves in December 1939, and then went back to Pennsylvania in 1941.Henry Porter Welton joined the USMCR in 1937 and was commissioned in December 1939. In early 1941, he trained at the State Military Reservation, Indiantown Gap, PA before joining the 1st Barrage Balloon Squadron in SC. When WW2 broke out, Welton was in the Canal Zone with that unit and upon returning was promoted to Captain.Welton eventually joined HQ Co, 25th Marines as a Major and participated in the seizure of Kwajalein landing on January 31st, 1944 and was the CO (admin) of HQ Co and the Regimental Weapons Co for the invasion of Saipan and Tinian. For the invasion of Iwo Jima, Welton was the Executive Officer of the 4th Service Battalion, 4th Marine Division. He later retired in the reserves with the rank of LTCOL. He received the Navy Commendation Medal w/ Combat V for his service.I restored the uniforms buttons and added a lightly sewn 4th marine division patch for display. They will be included.
