Letter dated \"Costopoli [Constantinople], li 11 febraio 1902\" (11 February 1902), numbered No. 555, written on the official letterhead of the \"Comunità Israelitico-Straniera di Costantinopoli (Sotto la protezione Italiana)\" — the Foreign Israelite Community of Constantinople (Under Italian Protection).
The letter is addressed to \"Illmo Signor Console\" (the Illustrious Mr. Consul). The document concerns a young student named Pardo Roquel Lone, son of Nissim Abramo, who attends the Scuola Tecnico-Commerciale (Technical-Commercial School) and is at risk of expulsion due to non-payment of the annual school fee of 25 francs plus approximately 30 francs for textbooks. The letter explains that the student\'s father is employed by a stationery merchant at a modest wage and must support a large family, making payment of the school fees impossible. The letter requests the Consul\'s intervention. On the backside of the document: \"Costopoli [Constantinople], 14 Febraio 1902\" (14 February 1902), written on lined paper. Written by the Director of an institution (likely the Technical-Commercial School) to a superior. The letter references \"come d\'intesa col Sig. Console Generale\" (as agreed with the Consul General) and states that the Director has forwarded the request from the Comitato Israelitico (Jewish Committee) for exemption from school fees for the student Pardo. The Director confirms the matter has already been addressed (\"ho già provveduto in merito\"). He further notes that he had informed the Cassiere Sig. Livadari [?] (Cashier Mr. Livadari [unclear surname]), who promised to report the matter to the Consul General. The letter closes with \"Il Direttore / [signature, partially legible as]\".
