This portrait offers a meaningful focal point for Buddhist devotion, prayer and quiet reflection. It may be especially appreciated by those with a connection to Keizan Zenji and Sōtō Zen Buddhism.
Individually hand-painted on silk and complemented by premium traditional mounting, this compact scroll brings together sacred portraiture and the elegance of Japanese craftsmanship.
PREMIUM TRADITIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIPCreated Beyond Ordinary Printed Altar Scrolls
Unlike ordinary printed altar scrolls, the central artwork of this scroll is individually hand-painted on silk.
The silk painting retains the expressive quality of the artist’s brushwork. Subtle variations in colour, lines and detail give each scroll its own individual character, distinguishing it from a printed reproduction.
The scroll is finished in the traditional Hon-Hyōsō style, a refined form of Japanese scroll mounting using carefully selected fabrics and traditional construction techniques. The mounting frames the portrait with an elegant appearance suitable for both devotional use and display.
The combination of hand-painted silk artwork and premium traditional mounting makes this a distinguished piece of Japanese Buddhist craftsmanship.
This hanging scroll is suitable for a Buddhist devotional setting honouring Keizan Zenji. It may also be appreciated as a refined example of Japanese Buddhist art and traditional Kakejiku craftsmanship.
