King of Rock and Roll — Reprise Records RS 6462 From the Personal Collection of Ann-Margret
LITTLE RICHARD SIGNED 1971 LP — PERSONALLY INSCRIBED TO ANN-MARGRET King of Rock and Roll — Reprise Records RS 6462 From the Personal Collection of Ann-Margret
Some pieces of entertainment history are interesting because of who owned them. Others because of who signed them. This remarkable 1971 Little Richard album brings both stories together.
Offered by Deco to Disco Collectibles is an original Reprise Records LP by Little Richard, personally signed and inscribed to legendary actress, singer and entertainer Ann-Margret.
The handwritten inscription appears prominently along the back cover beside a dramatic black-and-white photograph of Little Richard in performance. Rather than being a detached autograph added to an unrelated collectible, the inscription is physically part of the album jacket itself—a personal presentation connecting two enormously recognizable figures in American entertainment.
LITTLE RICHARD — THE ARCHITECT OF ROCK & ROLL
Few performers had an impact on popular music comparable to Little Richard.
With his explosive vocal style, pounding piano, flamboyant stage presence and extraordinary charisma, Richard Penniman helped establish the vocabulary of rock and roll during the 1950s. Recordings such as “Tutti Frutti,” “Long Tall Sally,” “Rip It Up,” “Lucille,” “Good Golly, Miss Molly” and “Keep A-Knockin’” became foundational records of the genre and influenced generations of performers who followed.
By the time this album was issued in 1971, Little Richard was already recognized as one of rock music's great originators.
The orange Reprise Records label identifies the record as:

The album includes performances of songs including “King of Rock and Roll,” “Joy to the World,” “Brown Sugar,” “In the Name,” and “Dancing in the Street.”
INSCRIBED TO ANN-MARGRET
What transforms this record from a collectible album into something considerably more significant is its association with Ann-Margret.
Ann-Margret emerged during the same extraordinary period of American entertainment history, becoming one of the most recognizable performers of the 1960s and beyond through film, television, recording and live appearances.
Her career crossed naturally into the world of rock and roll. Her energetic musical performances, dancing and glamorous stage persona made her one of the relatively few major Hollywood stars of the period who could convincingly inhabit both traditional show business and the rapidly changing youth-oriented entertainment culture.
This album came from Ann-Margret's personal collection, and Little Richard's handwritten inscription on the jacket creates a direct association between the two performers.
That distinction matters.
This is not simply a Little Richard autograph.
It is a Little Richard autograph addressed to another major entertainment figure and retained in her personal collection.
THE ALBUM
The original black vinyl LP is present with its distinctive orange Reprise Records label.
The jacket features a striking black-and-white performance photograph of Little Richard on the reverse, with the handwritten inscription running vertically through the light-colored margin beside the photograph.
The inscription remains highly visible and has not been cleaned, enhanced, traced or altered.
The record itself retains its original Reprise label, including the RS 6462 catalog number and 1971 date.
CONDITION
This is an authentic vintage record that was owned and handled rather than preserved as a modern mint-condition collectible.
The jacket displays visible age and storage wear, including discoloration/staining and wear along portions of the cover and edges. Of particular importance, the handwritten inscription remains clearly visible and is not compromised by the areas of staining or wear.
The vinyl displays normal surface reflections and signs consistent with age and handling.
Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description. No attempt has been made to cosmetically restore the album or disguise its history.
And frankly, for a piece like this, I would much rather see the authentic wear of an object that actually lived in someone's collection than a suspiciously perfect 55-year-old album.
DOCUMENTATION
This piece will be accompanied by the same expanded Deco to Disco documentation package used for significant celebrity and entertainment-history material, recording the item's chain of ownership and identifying information associated with its acquisition from the Ann-Margret collection.
The documentation will remain with the album so that its history does not become separated from the object in future ownership.
Additional supporting documentation can also be discussed with the purchaser when appropriate.
A REMARKABLE CONNECTION BETWEEN TWO ENTERTAINMENT LEGENDS
Celebrity autographs are plentiful.
Celebrity-owned objects are less common.
An object personally inscribed by one major performer to another major performer occupies a different category altogether.
Here we have Little Richard—a foundational figure in rock and roll—writing directly onto an album that became part of Ann-Margret's personal collection and remained there for decades.
It is a wonderfully human artifact of show-business history: one famous entertainer acknowledging another, preserved not in an archive or promotional file, but among the recipient's own possessions.
For the collector of Little Richard memorabilia, Ann-Margret material, early rock and roll, celebrity-owned artifacts, music history or 20th-century entertainment, this is an exceptional crossover piece.
