Southern Islands is one of the most distinctive sets Wizards of the Coast ever released in English: just 18 cards, every one of them holo, and designed so that the artwork joins up into larger continuous scenes when the cards are laid side by side. It sits outside the main expansion run, was never reprinted, and has a devoted following among WOTC-era collectors precisely because it is small, complete-able and genuinely unusual. Clean copies are hard to come by — the full-card holo shows every handling mark, and the set is now a quarter of a century old.

This is the Vileplume, and it\'s one of the more charming cards in the set. Naoyo Kimura paints two Vileplume side by side on a jungle path, eyes closed and content, under a canopy of broad tropical leaves — soft, sunlit and very much in the gentle island mood the set is built around. The starlight holo pattern runs across the entire card face rather than being confined to the artwork, which is what gives Southern Islands cards their particular glow in hand. The layout is classic WOTC throughout: red HP text, gold-framed artwork panel, and flavour text at the foot with the LV. 30 and #45 Pokédex reference. Vileplume is also the final stage of the Oddish–Gloom–Vileplume line.

Condition — Lightly Played / LP

From a personal collection, stored away from light and handled minimally. I\'ve set out every flaw I\'ve found below, section by section, so you know exactly what you\'re buying.

Front surface: looks great. Minimal scratching to the holo, visible only at certain angles under direct light. No clouding, print lines or scuffing across the face. Three very small black ink dots on borders — very minor and hard to pick up on camera.

Front edges: very, very mild whitening, mostly confined to the top edge. Worth noting specifically, since front-edge wear on yellow-bordered WOTC cards is usually the first thing graders and careful buyers look for.

Front corners: excellent for a card of this age — sharp, with no whitening or softening.

Reverse surface: a mild scuff to the left of the Poké Ball.

Reverse edges: mild whitening, mostly confined to the border.

Reverse corners: some whitening, but no softening or rounding.

The card is flat, with no creases, bends or dents anywhere.
