Large 2.75\" Phacops Trilobite Fossil on Matrix - Stunning Prep For Sale

Large 2.75\" (70 mm) Phacops / Morocops Trilobite, Middle Devonian, Anti-Atlas, Morocco

A large, beautifully prepared phacopid trilobite with a rich, deep black exoskeleton, resting prone on its original light-gray limestone matrix. This is a genuine, naturally preserved specimen, approximately 390 million years old.

Both schizochroal compound eyes are excellently preserved, with individual lens facets clearly visible in the close-up photos. The prep work is clean and detailed throughout.

Condition: Like nearly all Moroccan trilobites, this specimen was discovered by splitting the rock, which left a hairline crack through the matrix. It has been expertly repaired and is barely visible on the trilobite itself (see photos). I could not find evidence of restoration under UV light inspection, although I am not a professional. Some mounting putty residue on the bottom of the specimen.
