Large, hand-carved African wooden figural sculpture in a “shrine vessel / container form” style. The piece features multiple seated figures supporting an upper section with an animal-and-rider figure at the top. Several areas include old hair/fiber elements tied with cord. Strong sculptural presence and impressive scale at 31 inches tall. This seems to be of Dogon origin / influence. This example has a recessed/hollow interior area (noted in photos) with a raised central point/pyramid-like form inside. Weight is approximately 9 lbs.Approx. measurements:
