Original vintage Laterna Danica pendant lamp designed by Jørgen Buchwald in Denmark in the 1980s. With its sculptural arrangement of overlapping white metal shades and contrasting black supports, the lamp is a beautiful example of Scandinavian lighting design from the period.The design is built around a carefully layered system of curved metal reflectors. Rather than exposing the light source directly, the overlapping shades distribute and reflect the light between their surfaces, creating a warm, atmospheric glow while directing useful illumination downward. When switched off, the individual layers form a clean architectural silhouette; illuminated, the spaces between them become part of the design and emphasize its floating, almost weightless construction.Above the main shade, a smaller arrangement of circular reflectors surrounds the original white ceramic socket. Three slim black supports provide a graphic contrast to the off-white lacquered metal and give the lamp its characteristic Scandinavian modern appearance.The Laterna Danica series is associated with Danish designer Jørgen Buchwald and was produced in Denmark, with surviving examples attributed to Nordlux. Buchwald\'s lighting designs are characterized by layered metal construction and controlled, indirect illumination — an approach clearly visible in this pendant.A distinctive piece of 1980s Danish lighting that works particularly well above a dining table or as a central pendant in a living space.Condition:
Good vintage condition with visible signs of age and use. The white lacquered surfaces show scratches, small marks, minor paint losses and areas of wear. There is also some fine age-related cracking/crazing visible in the finish. These traces are consistent with the lamp\'s age and are shown in detail in the photographs.
