Provenance: This photograph comes directly from the Marty Himes Racing Museum Collection, assembled over decades by Marty Himes - racer, restorer, and lifelong archivist of American racing. Every piece he preserved tells part of the story of motorsport’s rise from dirt tracks to the spectacle of the Indy 500. We acquired the majority of his photo collection after his passing. Many of his photos are extremely rare or even one of a kind.

Historical Notes
New Smyrna Raceway (now known as New Smyrna Speedway) has been one of Florida's most storied short tracks, operating since the 1950s and serving as a proving ground for countless regional racers. The track hosts the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing each February, drawing competitors from across the country. Lee Faulk's points championship in the late model stock car division represents a hard-fought seasonal title requiring consistent top finishes across the full schedule. New Smyrna has launched careers of drivers who went on to NASCAR's national series, and the tight, banked oval continues to be a hotbed of Florida short-track competition today.

Print analysis
This is a color snapshot photograph measuring 5x3.5 inches, consistent with consumer 35mm or disc camera prints from the early-to-mid 1980s. The color cast, print style, and snapshot format all indicate this was developed close to the time the photo was taken. There is no agency or press stamp on the back - just a typed caption strip. This is a Type 1 original photograph, printed at the time of the event, likely circa 1982-1986.
