The figurine was designed by noted Lladró sculptor Salvador Debón, introduced in 1978, and retired in 1998. Its Spanish title is Japonesita Tímida. The underside bears the authentic blue Lladró backstamp with © DAISA 1978; this identifies the design copyright year rather than necessarily the exact year this particular figurine was produced.
It measures approximately 11.5 inches tall and weighs approximately 1.5 lbs, giving it a solid and substantial feel.
The figurine displays beautifully. The glossy glaze remains clean and bright without crazing. When viewed from the front, the condition issue is not immediately apparent; however, careful inspection revealed that one applied porcelain flower is completely missing from the rear of her hair. A rough area of exposed porcelain remains where the flower was originally attached. Because it is positioned toward the back, the loss does not have a dramatic effect on the overall display. The remaining applied floral details appear intact, and no other damage was noted. Please review the close-up photograph of the flower loss carefully.
This lovely retired Lladró would make a graceful addition to an Asian-inspired collection or a grouping with the companion Lladró Japanese figures from the same series.
