Lockheed Vega Model 5 NC-625E Single-Engine Monoplane 8x10 Photo: $39.99
Lockheed Vega Model 5 NC-625E Single-Engine Monoplane 8x10 Photo Aitken Collection Company Reprint, MDC St. Louis 1979DESCRIPTIONThis 8x10 photograph shows a Lockheed Vega Model 5 on the ramp, its registration NC-625E marked on the tail.According to aviation registry research, NC625E was Vega serial number 63, a five-place, single-engine monoplane powered by a Pratt & Whitney Wasp, delivered new to Marland Production Company of Ponca City, Oklahoma, the company that became Continental Oil Company (Conoco). It later passed through several owners, and the registration was cancelled from the federal record in 1940.The Vega is one of Lockheed's early wooden-construction airplanes and should not be confused with the later twin-engine, all-metal Lockheed Electra, which is a different aircraft entirely. This print comes from the Aitken Collection, a large single-owner archive of official company photograph reprints produced at the McDonnell Douglas Corporation's St. Louis facility in 1979 and mailed directly to the collector, Donald and Barbara Aitken of Irvine, California, whose typed mailing label and the MDC St. Louis stamp are still visible on the reverse.Because this print was pulled from the archive negative and reproduced decades after the photograph was originally taken, it is offered and priced as a documented 1979 company reprint rather than an original period press pull. The image was scanned at 600dpi so every detail, down to the tail registration, is fully visible before you buy.Every effort is made toward fact checking and provenance, including background research through news and historical archives. If any listing is incorrect in any way and you're unsatisfied with the item, please connect with me and I'll make it right.Orders placed before Noon CDT ship same day via Ground Advantage with tracking, so you know exactly when it will arrive. Returns are accepted on all items exceeding $25 in cost. Every shipment is packaged rigidly and professionally, sealed and protected in acid free sleeves. Shipping is free and already built into the price, so the BIN price is exactly what you pay, no surprise shipping costs at checkout.CONDITIONOriginal 1979 photographic paper print (not a modern digital reprint), a clean MDC St. Louis archival print with crisp, high-contrast reproduction and no tears, creases, or surface loss visible in the scans. Corners and edges show no notable wear. The reverse carries the typed photographer's caption card, the partial MDC St. Louis date stamp, the Aitken collection's mailing stamp, and light period handling marks consistent with a print that has been catalogued and stored since 1979. Please examine the photos closely, as they are part of the description and show the actual item's condition, including the reverse.
