The M-Tas brand has developed an important element of the equipment of a modern soldier - LOWER BACK PROTECTION WITH BALLISTIC PACKAGE 2 CLASS for M-Tas plate carriers of the Cuirass QRS model or any other plate carrier, the lower part of which is closed with a Velcro flap.
This model is designed to protect the lower back from fragments and ricochets during combat missions. It is attached using a special Velcro flap, which is installed at the back of the plate carrier.
The lumbar protection is made of Cordura 500D - a super-strong material resistant to abrasion and high loads. It is completed with a ballistic package of the 2nd class, designed to protect against ricochets and fragments. The armor package is made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene and complies with STANAG 2920 with an anti-fragmentation resistance index V-50 of about 758.6 m/s.
To understand the analogy with bulletproof resistance, an armor package with a similar composition corresponds to class 2 (7.62*25 Pst) according to DSTU 8782:2018. An armor package of the 2nd protection class withstands a shot of 9 × 18 mm, (9 mm Makarov), 9 × 19 mm, (9 mm Luger, 9 mm Parabellum) from pistols and carbines chambered for a pistol cartridge and 7.62 × 25 mm, (7.62 × 25 Tokarev). (Class 2 refers to the equivalent in composition, which is tested on standard 400x400mm samples. Therefore, the resulting injury may differ on samples of smaller size and shape).
