Personal New Year greeting written and signed by Maria Casarès (1922–1996), the Spanish‑born French actress and major figure of post‑war theatre and art‑house cinema. Manuscript message on her own printed personal note card, reading:

“Meilleurs vœux de 1962.Bien amicalement.M.C.”

The printed “MARIA CASARÈS” heading is her standard late‑1950s/early‑1960s stationery, used for private seasonal notes and friendly professional correspondence. The brief, warm message and initialled signature are typical of her informal epistolary style.

Dated 1962, placing it in her prime period with the Théâtre National Populaire under Jean Vilar, and contemporary with her celebrated roles in mid‑century French theatre and cinema.

James Francis Durante (Feb 1893 – Jan 1980) was an American comedian, actor, singer, and pianist. His distinctive gravelly speech, Lower East Side accent, comic language-butchery, jazz-influenced songs, and prominent nose helped make him one of the United States' most familiar and popular personalities of the 1920s through the 1970s. He often referred to his nose as the schnozzola (Italianization of the American Yiddish slang word schnoz, meaning "big nose"), and the word became his class="MsoNormal">From a single owner collection of 3,000+ items. A chaotic uncatalogued miscellany of items from 17th to 20th Century.
