Nelson McCoy cookie jar in glossy black, with hand-painted pink and pale lavender flowers, yellow centers, and green leaves. Solid pink lid with a loop handle. Two small lug handles on the sides. Brush strokes show in the flowers.
About 10.25" tall, roughly 7.75" wide from handle to handle. Opening is nearly 5" across. Base is 5.75" in diameter. Bottom is impressed McCoy. Early Nelson McCoy hand-painted floral jars date to about 1939 into the mid-1940s.
Good vintage condition. Lid present. No chip or crack in the clay that I can see. Crackle is in the painted flowers, not through the body. Some paint is thin and black shows through. Thin pink paint line on one lug handle. Bare brown clay on the foot ring. Glossy black interior with a light circular mark in the center of the inside bottom.
