Condition: An excellent, structurally sound survivor of a legendary 19th-century magic manual. Unlike most heavy Victorian magic books of this age, this copy has escaped catastrophic structural damage and remains entirely unrestored.
BINDING & HINGES (very good)The inner paper hinges and endpapers are 100% original and completely un-repaired. There is absolutely NO tape, glue reinforcement, or mesh showing at the gutters. The book block is solidly attached to the covers.
SPINE (Very good) The spine is intact with no splitting along the outer joints: however, the book is slightly cocked as seen in photos. . The iconic gold-stamped playing cards, title banner, and \"Routledge\" imprint at the base are crisp, legible, and retain their brilliant luster.
BOARDS & EDGES (Good): The deep green pictorial cloth cover displays bright gold and black tooling. There are a few small flecks of missing cloth/scuffs along the lower edge of the front board and light bumping/shelf wear to the corners .
Interior pages. On the front pastedown, first and second free end pages and title pages there is ownership names. The interior pages are clean, free of heavy staining, and securely bound. The first free end page has a crease at bottom right corner as seen in photos.
