NOS! Two (2) Boxes Vintage 1940’s-50’s Presto Blued-Sterilized ½”Carpet Tacks
This listing is for two(2) 2-ounce boxes of vintage Presto Blued-Sterilized Carpet Tacks, No. 2, ¼”long. The new old stock small tacks comefrom the liquidation of a local family-owned hardware store. Manufactured by Snell-Jones Tacks, Inc. ofNew York, NY, these vintage boxes of carpet tacks date to the 1940’s –1950’s. The boxes are in very goodcondition as they have been protected by a master carton for over half acentury (also available at The Other Man's Store). The top layer of boxes is slightly yellowed(images of 2 boxes show a box from both layers). Each box contains 1/8 of a pound of No. 2carpet tacks or 2 ounces. You willreceive two (2) boxes! Each box measures1-1/4” x 1-1/4” x 1-1/16”.
UselessInformation: The carpet tacks aresterilized by a technique known as “blueing”, where the steel is heated until ablue oxide film appears. Sterilizedtacks came about in the 1920’s for upholsterers who put the tacks in theirmouths.
