This is a genuine NOS example that has never been mounted on a handle. The axe retains its original factory finish and features the scarce factory stamp:
UTSKOT - Wetterling Storvik
“Utskot” (also called Utskott) was Wetterlings’ designation for second sorting. Despite this marking, I have carefully inspected the axe and cannot identify any obvious defect or flaw. Many collectors consider these factory-second heads highly interesting because they provide insight into Wetterlings’ strict quality control standards.
The Hjartum pattern is among the harder Wetterlings models to find today, especially in unused condition. With Wetterlings now closed, original NOS axe heads have become increasingly sought after by collectors and users alike.
