This plaque of the Norse God Odin / Woden / Wotan is a beautifully detailed piece of Norse-inspired carved wood folk art. The carving style is intricate and textured, with strong Norse or Viking mythological influences. It features the warrior Odin from Norse mythology, accompanied by his two wolves, Geri and Freki. His two raven scout messengers, Huginn and Muninn, sit at the top corners. Thebackground and borders are filled Celtic/Norse knotwork giving the piece a grounded, mythical forest setting. The base is carved to look like gnarled rootsgiving the piece a grounded, mythical forest setting.
The figure would make an excellent display piece on a shelf, desk, or as a unique bookend. It will stand upright without assistance and could easily be mounted. Shaped similar to an tomb effigy, the statue has a flat back side. It has a paintable surface with excellent detailing potential.
