Old Carved Wood Rice Sheaf Paddle Panaptapan Frog Bird Figures Lombok Indonesia.This beautiful and nicely carved old wood rice sheaf paddle (Balinese/Lombok "panaptapan") is from Lombok, Indonesia. It has a slender pointed handle with a carved bird head. Rising from the flattened paddle blade carved in low relief is a crouching frog figure. It dates to the early 1900s. The paddles were traditionally used by village farmers on Bali and the neighboring island of Lombok to even up bundles of harvested rice stalks before storage. The paddle measures approximately 14” long.
