I am interested in Native Peoples\' history. In June 2023 I spent several days visiting the Oglala Sioux Pine Ridge Reservation in western South Dakota. I had a tour with a local Oglala Sioux father-daughter team, who showed me the Reservation.
Later I spent time at the Wounded Knee Cemetery, site of the Massacre of 1890. While I was there two young Oglala Sioux brothers showed me the graves, as well as amulets that they and their mother had made. I purchased those in the photos.
Their mother made the heart-shaped object depicting Mother Earth, Dream Catcher, Strong Woman Tipi.
The dark circle is spider weave with sun burst colors.
The other is cherry stick and deer hide.
The drum depicts sacred colors, four directions, four seasons, four stages of life.
The price includes all four amulets.
