Offered for sale is a scarce original WWI U.S. National Army Infantry M1917 Cotton Summer Service Uniform Jacket, a desirable example of an increasingly difficult-to-find First World War American military uniform.
These lightweight cotton summer service tunics are considerably less commonly encountered than their wool counterparts, particularly in this condition and retaining their original period insignia.
The jacket features its original U.S. National Army and Infantry collar discs, along with a red discharge chevron, overseas service chevrons, and sergeant\'s rank chevrons. These interesting period details add considerable historical character to this scarce WWI uniform.
The tunic retains most of its original buttons, with the exception of those along the front flap closure.
Condition: The jacket remains in good overall condition for its age, exhibiting staining, scattered soiling, light handling wear, and signs of long-term storage. Despite these imperfections, the cotton fabric remains strong and intact, with no visible holes or tears.
A fantastic and increasingly scarce example of an original WWI U.S. Army cotton summer service uniform, complete with desirable period insignia and interesting military service details. An excellent addition to any serious WWI militaria collection, particularly for collectors of American infantry uniforms and early U.S. Army field clothing.
