Pair 18thC Marble Heads Of The Bodhisattva Of Compassion, Guanyin
A pair of Chinese carved marble heads depicting Guanyin, the bodhisattva of compassion, 18th century.
Each sculpture has a serene expression with lowered eyes, elongated earlobes and an elaborately arranged coiffure. The two heads differ in their facial modeling and hair ornaments. Their pale stone surfaces show areas of darker coloration, particularly within the carved recesses. Both are presented on separate black display stands, allowing the heads to be viewed as a pair.
Overall good condition with chips, scratches and weathering discoloration. Wear consistent with age and use; as photographed.
