A striking matched pair of Bohemian Jugendstil vases, circa 1900–1910. Each stands 13 inches tall by 6 inches in diameter. Mouth-blown glass with an acid-satin finish, hand decorated in raised matte gilt whiplash bands and teardrop reserves, outlined in white enamel and set with applied ruby glass cabochons like gemstones. Gilded rims and feet. Interiors are smooth, with the pattern visible through the glass.
The design draws on Vienna Secession ornament and the flowing line of Franco-Belgian Art Nouveau, in the decorative idiom of Bohemian houses such as Moser, Harrach and Riedel. Unsigned. Offered as Bohemian, early 20th century.
Sculptural, jewel-like and unmistakably of its period, the pair suits a mantel, console or doorway. Both vases match in form, scale and decoration. A natural fit for collectors of Jugendstil, Secessionist and Bohemian art glass, or for decorators seeking a dramatic pair.
Condition: age-appropriate. One missing cabochon, no cracks. Please review all photos before purchase.
