Pair of antique gilt bronze (ormolu) figural candlesticks on white marble bases.Each candlestick is cast with a romantic 19th-century genre scene: a standing young man and seated young woman among palm-like foliage and flowers. Candle cups sit above an openwork foliate drip pan / bobeche. Matching pair.Likely Continental (French or Italian style), late 19th century / Napoleon III period revival between 1860-1890. Gilt bronze with original gilding and darker patina in the recesses. White marble plinths. Threaded fittings on the underside of the marble (common on these pieces).Condition
