Wonderful matched pair of vintage Art Deco soda fountain/candy store syrup dispensers, believed to date from approximately the 1920s–1930s.
These were purchased by my family approximately 50 years ago from an antique shop in Brooklyn, New York. At the time, we were told they had originally come from an old candy store.
The two dispensers are identical and are being sold together as a pair.
Each measures approximately:
• 14 inches tall
• 4 inches wide at the top
They have wonderful period styling and substantial presence. Particularly interesting are the original dispensing mechanisms: the syrup would have been released through the spigot and dispensed from the opening at the bottom of the spigot.
One dispenser retains what appears to be old white sealing material around its base. The corresponding material was removed from the second dispenser sometime in the past. We have intentionally left the remaining material untouched.
We have examined both pieces carefully and have not found a visible manufacturer’s mark, so we are not attributing them to a particular maker.
These have been together for at least half a century, and we would very much like to see them remain together.
Condition:
Vintage condition consistent with age and their original commercial use. There is age-related wear, patina and surface variation. One retains old white sealant/material at the base, as described above. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the condition description.
We have not tested the dispensers for modern food use. They are being offered as vintage soda-fountain collectibles/decorative objects.
