Up for sale/sale is a fantastic matching pair of mid-century Westinghouse table fans featuring the highly sought-after silver-ribbed "teardrop" bullet motor housings. Finding these intact as a true pair is becoming increasingly difficult. Both units are complete with their original front Westinghouse name badges, side speed knobs, and rear hardware.
Mechanical & Functionality Update:
• Motors: Both fans turn on and run strong. The blades spin freely.
• Oscillation: Both fans attempt to oscillate when turned on, but neither unit oscillates well right now. They are sluggish and require a manual push to move. This is incredibly common for fans of this vintage and is almost certainly due to decades of hardened, dried-up factory grease inside the rear gearboxes. A simple cleanup and fresh machine oil should have them pivoting smoothly again.
Cosmetic Condition Breakdown:
• Fan 1 (Cleaner Base): In beautiful vintage shape. The original blue paint on the base is largely intact with only minor scuffing and paint loss along the bottom rim edge. The silver-ribbed trim and blades are clean with minimal patina.
• Fan 2 (Chipped Base): Shows a much heavier, authentic industrial patina. There is noticeable paint chipping, flaking, and light surface oxidation across the cast iron base and back spine. The aluminum blades show honest age. Perfect if you love a rugged antique look, or an ideal candidate for a straightforward cosmetic repaint.
Important Safety Note:
Both fans retain their original vintage wiring and two-prong plugs. While they power up and run safely for testing, the cords are aged. As with all vintage electrical electronics, rewiring with modern reproduction cloth cord is recommended for regular, long-term daily use.
