The specimen features a prominent elongated calcite crystal with a classic sharply pointed dogtooth/scalenohedral habit. The crystal is translucent with a warm pale honey to golden-champagne coloration and contains a particularly interesting internal phantom/growth zone. Fine dark mineral inclusions concentrated along portions of the earlier crystal-growth structure make the phantom especially apparent when the specimen is viewed in strong light.
The calcite rises dramatically from a contrasting white okenite-rich matrix, creating an attractive combination characteristic of the zeolite-bearing volcanic cavities of Maharashtra. A secondary calcite crystal extends laterally from the matrix, giving the specimen excellent three-dimensional character.

The internal phantom is one of the most interesting aspects of this piece. Under direct illumination, an earlier stage of crystal growth becomes visible inside the larger calcite crystal, accented by numerous tiny dark inclusions. The identity of these microscopic inclusions has not been analytically determined, so they are intentionally not attributed to a specific mineral.
The white matrix is identified as okenite, a calcium silicate mineral frequently associated with calcite and zeolite minerals in the basalt cavities of Maharashtra.
