Pljevlja Montenegro Children in Paper Party Hats Nastic Ottoman Cabinet Card For Sale

Cabinet card photograph by N. Nastić (N. Nastic), photographer of Pljevlja, showing four young children posed in a studio before a painted backdrop. Three of the older children wear pinafores with embroidered pocket designs and folded paper parrty hats, while a baby in a long white gown sits on a leather chair wearing a lace bonnet. The backdrop includes a painted window with a distant town and a crescent and star motif, dating the image to the late Ottoman or immediately post-Ottoman period in the Sandžak region.
Photographer\'s imprint is blind stamped on the front mount at left and printed on the reverse in Cyrillic and Latin script with an ornate camera and palette design by B. Wachtl of Vienna. Reverse also bears period ink notations in Cyrillic with a column of figures, apparently a photographer\'s or household account.
