Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught (1850-1942). A genuine handwritten reply from the household of Prince Arthur while the Duke was the Commander-in-Chief in Ireland. The April 4th 1902 letter, written by an Aide-de-Camp on behalf of the Duke, is a formal refusal of an autograph request. 8 7/8" x 7" multifold in very good condition with light toning and staining.

The A.D.C. in waiting is desired by H.R.H. the Duke of Connaught to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of March 20th 1902 and to inform you that His Royal Highness has made it a rule not to give his autograph and that therefore he regrets not being able to comply with your request.
