Rare 17th century candlestick attributed to France. This candle holder is a beautiful example and extremely elegant.
This particular example measures 6-3/4” tall with a base measuring 5-3/16” in diameter.
The shaft is peened into the base, which is wonderfully turned with a beautiful chocolate patina. The rest of the stick has a nice consistent patinated surface.
This is truly a beautiful and early candlestick. Unique, with a pronounced discoid knop. It is so difficult to find good, genuine examples of 1600s candlesticks!
Please look at my other listings for more antiques including other early candlesticks.
