Up for your consideration is this STUNNING & ORIGINAL.....**Fenton Topaz Vaseline Opalescent Coin Dot 6\" Vase**Produced in 1959-60..Less than a year in production.#1456 TO
There are 2 Versions of this vase so please bear with me as I explain.After WW II, Topaz Opalescent was discontinued because of shortage ofmaterials.In 1959, Fenton started production of it again, but for just a bit over a year (of others in the collection). This particular vase was produced for less than a year.Two vases in Topaz Opalescent Coin Dot, the 6\" #1456 and the 8\" #1477, appeared again on the market in 1988 for Phil Rosso of Pennsylvania andbears the Fenton mark...although, sometimes hard to see.The 8\" vase of the same style was never made in the original 1959 run.
According to the \"Fenton Glass Compendium 1940-1970 by John Walk (which is where all this info came from), the best way to tell the old #1456 vase from the new is to know the colors, as the new is softer, not quiteasbrightas the old, and has a greenish hue. Also, it seems as if the dots are not as pronounced in the new, with the Opalescent running into them. And of course, look for any marking on the bottom.
This vase is a real beauty with a Bright Yellow Center and mostly Opalescent covering the outside, with the exception of the Bright Yellow Coin Dots!!It has a 6 Crimp FlaredRuffledTop.And of course, it Glows beautifully under a Black Light, as shown in the photo.
