💎 Description
In daylight, this Franklin specimen shows a dark gray, sparkling surface with a subtle iridescent sheen that flashes purple and blue as it catches the light. Scattered amber-brown patches across the top break up the darker body and add warmth to the piece.
Under UV, the specimen reveals a completely different character. Chlorophane glows teal-green across much of the upper surface at both wavelengths, while sphalerite adds contrasting color: orange and pink accents under shortwave and pink spots under longwave. After either lamp is switched off, the chlorophane continues to glow teal-green for 2-3 seconds.
Chlorophane is a classic Franklin collector variety of fluorite, and the teal-green against orange and pink sphalerite makes this an unusual and attractive small display piece.

🌍 Composition
• Chlorophane — CaF₂, a fluorite variety; fluoresces teal-green under both LW and SW UV, with teal-green phosphorescence after exposure to either
• Sphalerite — ZnS, dark gray in daylight; fluoresces pink under LW UV and orange and pink under SW UV
• Natural, untreated specimen from Franklin, Sussex County, NJ
⸻
✨ Features
• Teal-green chlorophane fluorescence at both wavelengths
• Teal-green phosphorescence lasting 2-3 seconds after both LW and SW exposure
• Sphalerite shifts from dark gray in daylight to pink under LW and orange and pink under SW
• Iridescent, sparkling dark surface in daylight
• Compact 2.4 in size, includes clear acrylic display stand
• Authentic material from Franklin, Sussex County, NJ
⸻
🔦 Fluorescence
• LW UV (Lumenbeast 365nm): Chlorophane glows teal-green; sphalerite glows pink
• SW UV (Stimac Engineering 255nm): Chlorophane glows teal-green; sphalerite glows orange and pink
• Phosphorescence: Chlorophane shows teal-green phosphorescence for 2-3 seconds after both LW UV and SW UV exposure
⸻
⚠️ Care Note
Chlorophane is light-sensitive. Store this specimen away from direct sunlight and avoid prolonged UV exposure to help preserve its fluorescence.
